Linda Jolly

When Linda retired from her work life and her family was grown, she was searching for a new interest which would provide a purpose and challenge and one that would last throughout her senior years. Because she had always had a strong interest in visual arts, music and dance, she enrolled in a course at the Alberta College of Art in 1994. This led her into the fascinating world of Art. She has continued her education through classes and workshops with well-known instructors in her area. What was meant to be a hobby has become a passionate avocation for her and one from which she receives countless hours of enjoyment.
Linda’s Inspiration comes from her close connection with nature which is represented in her work. She is also a close observer of life which provides her constantly with a variety of new ideas. She tries to share the joy that she feels of a beautiful sunset, a rustling leaf, the expanse of the sea, the grandeur of the mountains or a colorful flower through her paintings. With her watercolors, she achieves her purpose by using the transparency and the softness of the blends of the paint to create an interesting play of light and shadows. With acrylics, she uses the versatility of the paint to produce interesting textures and vibrant hues of her colorful work.
“My intention is to express my appreciation of the beauty of the world around us. I hope to give the viewer a sense of serenity, peace and enjoyment in which to relax from the stress of life.”
Linda and her husband travel extensively and the photographs from their trips provide a wealth of reference material for her work. Her paintings are enjoyed in offices and homes in the United States and Canada. Linda has participated in Art Shows over the last 6 years with the Elbow Valley Artists and other local Shows in her region. In Calgary, Linda’s original paintings and giclee prints can be seen in the offices of Dundee Securities and the Scholten and Associates Chiropractic Clinic .
